onestar press, a collection of books, multiples and movies by artists is dedicated to the production of books, multiples and movies by artists.

The overall production of onestar press includes more than 200 books, 200 multiples and artists’ films since 2000. The space and freedom given to artists, the flexibility in the realization of their concepts, the access to and use of new technologies have allowed onestar press to collaborate with international artists on a variety of projects. The vision of onestar press, concerning contemporary creation, remains non-didactic and diversified. These beliefs translate through the publication of artists from different generations, countries and attitudes. This action serves as a means to constitute a subjective « encyclopedia », as a reflection of our civilization.

When fellow designer MARCUS TREMONTO  was approached by NIKE to customize their amazing Zoom Force-1 boots, he didn’t stop to consider the proposal but immediately accepted. TREMONTO is a contemporary master of light.  Always on the lookout for new materials and impossible ways to customize and re-contextualize pop culture icons, i.e.  his custom version of the classic Munny figure by KIDROBOT.

For this project, he took the chance to explore his vision of the future of sports, envisioning the future of snowboarding in the year 2220! TREMONTO was inspired, as he reveals, from sci-fi movies, James Bond and Gundam, the famous anime series. It’s true that there is an undeniably pop appeal to his version of NIKE’s Zoom Force-1 boots, reminiscent of a super hero’s shoes that are ready to take off into an endless sky.

Each boot is unique, made in TREMONTO’s New York studio, utilizing electroluminescent paper and custom graphics that will definitely light your way to the ski resorts. For all of you who are impatient to check the boots out live, we have good news. The boots will be exhibited during a unique global exhibition scheduled to take place firstly in Denver, Colorado and then Munich, Germany.

About Marcus Tremonto

Artist/designer Marcus Tremonto received international recognition and acclaim for his innovative limited edition “Lightworks” pieces which were exhibited in New York at Phillips De Pury and Company in 2007. Following his one man show he was chosen for the coveted Swarovski Crystal Palace in Milan 2008. He exhibits internationally from Milan?s Salone del Mobile to The Pavillon des Art et du Design in Paris and during Frieze Art in London; his work is featured in many publications such as The New York Times, Case da Abitare, Domus, Connaisance des Arts and Blueprint.

Founding his New York based design studio, Treluce Studios, with wife and partner Monica Tremonto in 2002, the studio is a collaborative which focuses on product driven concepts based on re-contextualizing,re-purposing and re-imaging traditional designs with new design philosophies. Works range from jewelry and objects to furniture and lighting.

Continuing the lines drawn by Caspar Friedrich and Gerhard Richter, Laramée admits to his attraction to spirituality. He combines the old philosophies of Asian arts and Zen and draws energy from Romanticism.

“In the series Fabulous Views, I examine through photography how we define nature, and how that idea of nature coexists with human interaction. Traditional depictions of the wild consist of desolate areas, lush trees, waterfalls without a human presence. However, this notion is not the most pervasive in contemporary culture. I construct photographs to explore the exoticized, clichéd, and synthetic devices which our civilization has created to represent nature.

In the photograph, Defense Mechanism a fawn is found crouching as if to hide in the middle of a paved road. The fawn’s attempt to conceal itself in its surroundings has been created by centuries of innate survival strategies but is now rendered useless in this concrete displacement.

The varied methodologies in the series Fabulous Views range from a still life composition of Home Depot tropical house plants and a wild-caught lobster; to an apartment’s advertisement banner displayed over a forest valley which reads, “Fabulous Views 306-2000.” Through these varied modes of depiction, the photographs begin to imply what we as a society value and the strategies of portraying the natural versus artificial or the authentic versus inauthentic. Fabulous Views reflects the human view on nature as we digest it within our own contemporary culture.” – Max Marshall

In a heavily wooded country like Sweden, it comes as no surprise when one comes across a hotel deep in the forest. However, the Treehotel is something beyond the ordinary. Located in Harads, a village in the northern part of the country with only 600 inhabitants, the hotel has made the forested region a touristic attraction.

Designed by some of Scandinavia’s leading architects such as Martin Videgård and Bolle Tham as well as Mårten & Gustav Cyrén, the hotel promises to reconnect its guests with nature. The hotel, which first opened in July 2010, consists of five tree-rooms and the owners Britta and Kent Lindvall, expect to build a total of 24 tree-rooms by 2012.  All of the rooms harmoniously blend into the natural environment with the aim of making a minimal ecological footprint. Each room is located four to six meters above the ground and they all share the magnificent views of the surrounding natural environment. The rooms themselves vary in size from 15-30m2.
